Haverfordwest Castle

The castle is situated in the town centre. It was said to have been built by Tancred the Fleming. Gilbert de Clare added a stone keep and a baily fortress in 1120. During the 13 th century the castle saw a great deal of action in 1265 the barons’ war William de Vacance took the castle but royalty granted the castle back to the Debohun family. After the royalists lost the civil war Cromwell himself demanded that the castle be destroyed.
