Cycling in the Brecon Beacons

Mountain bike fans are discovering that in Wales Mountain Biking doesn't get better than the Brecon Beacons. The Beacons give mountain bikers a natural trail experience, exhilarating and satisfying. There are 14 single track mountain bike routes through forests, over Welsh Mountains, through streams and open commons. The graded mountain bike routes are colour coded into:

Yellow routes

Green routes

Blue routes

Red routes

Killer Black routes


The routes start from one of 5 major Mountain Bike Centres in Brecon Beacons National Park. Cycling in Builth Wells.

Routes are abundant – Builth Wells to Hay on Wye trail is a lovely waterside ride that follows the River Wye and NCN routes 42 and 8 through Powys, with wonderful views of the Black Mountains.The Lon Las (National Route 8) passes through the town.


Cycling in Brecon

There are 5 circular cycle routes in and around Brecon to suit all levels. the Taff Trail also begins here and runs southwards for 55miles through superb countryside and with fantastic views of the Brecon Beacons and the South Wales Valleys down to Cardiff.
